Church Membership
- What are the benefits of church membership?
Membership provides you with benefits that you can't find anywhere else.
- Membership identifies you as a genuine believer. (Eph. 2:19, Rom. 12:5)
- Brings you from "just believing" to "belonging"; from "this church" to "my church". Membership gives you a sense of ownership.
- Membership helps you identify your gifts and talents and use them to serve others. It gives you opportunity to serve in church ministries or in leadership positions. There are a variety of ways in which you can serve in your church.
- Members can receive ministry through discipleship, equipping, small groups, teaching, programs etc. It helps you to grow in your faith by learning the turths in God's Word an dhow to apply biblical principles to your life.
- Membership encourages you to fulfill your mission to reach your friends and family for Christ.
- Membership provides you with Christian fellowship and care which helps you face problems in life by providing the support and encouragement of other believers. (Gal. 6:1-2, Heb. 10:24-25)
- Church membership places you under the spiritual protection of godly leaders. (Heb. 13:17, Acts 20:28-29)
- Membership gives you the accountability to help you grow spiritually. (Eph. 5:21)
- What are the responsibilities of being a member?
- Regular attendance: Although not all attenders are members ( a growing church will always have seekers, searchers, adherents, etc.), members do have a responsibility to support church services and functions.
- Christian Service: Members have a responsibility to identify and grow their gifts and talents, and to use them to serve others and the church.
- Giving: Members have a responsibility to support their church financially.
- Commitement to the church leadership (pastors, elders, church council).
- What are the requirements for church membership?
- A Christian - Confession of Faith in Christ.
- Baptism by immersion
- Interview by an elder
- Agreement with our Statment of Faith, and Church Covenant.
